For over 20 years Alison Thietje has specialized in fitness and entrepreneurship. She has owned three successful golf fitness companies, one of which was the first personal training company to travel with the PGA Tour. Much of her creative work is still being used in the market by other fitness and medical professionals as well as PGA teaching instructors. Below you will find a short summary of Alison’s major accomplishments.
1995 Developed a National Medical Advisory Board to oversee the design of a golf-specific personal training program as well as organized a Professional Advisory Board of successful entrepreneurs that would develop the business/marketing plan to launch the first golf-specific training company in the US named, Total Approach Golf (TAG).
1996 Pioneered fitness for golf; provided year-round fitness programs for the PGA Tour and offered golf-specific training in local Country Clubs. Trained and employed four trainers that helped cover the growing markets both on the PGA Tour and in the local Kansas City market.
1996-2000 Personal trainer for world-ranking professional golfers, including Tom Watson, Justin Leonard, Brad Faxon, Stewart Cink and Phil Mickelson.
1998 Recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the top six fitness trainers for golf in America.
1999 Recognized by Golf Digest Magazine as one of “Golf’s top fitness trainers”.
1999-2001 Invited to be a professional fitness advisor for Golf Digest Magazine ( the largest golf publication in the world). During this period, she authored several articles in Golf For Women Magazine and Golf Digest Magazine. One of her articles was chosen as one the Golf Digest’ s Top 100 Lessons and then reprinted in the 2003 book titled, The Best of Golf Digest.
1999-2002 Remained traveling on the PGA Tour until the end of 1999 when she relocated to Houston, Texas to establish Total Approach Golf (TAG) for amateur golfers. The TAG system was recognized as a pre-and-post rehabilitation program for injured golfers, was the only golf-specific program in the US covered under health insurance. Alison licensed the TAG system to four physical therapy clinics in the greater Houston area (Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Center; Memorial Hermann Medial Center and Rehabilitation; Memorial Hermann Southwest Wellness Center and John West Physical Therapy). Many of Alison’s original posture exercises and neuromuscular re-education exercises (NMR) are still used by these clinics today.
1999-2005 Alison has written numerous articles on fitness and golf and has been published more than 20 times in magazines such as Golf for Women, Golf Digest, Health and Fitness Magazine, Women’s Edition, CNN Sports Illustrated Online, Texas Golfer, Houston Sports, Avid Golfer and more.
2000 Honored as one of the keynote speakers on golf fitness at the Worldwide PGA Teaching Summit, held at the New Orleans Superdome.
2000 Educational speaker for medical students at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston Texas.
2001 Honored as a keynote speaker at the Mid Atlantic Golf Symposium in Baltimore, Maryland. The symposium provided continuing education credits for Orthopedic Physicians and Physical Therapist.
2002-2006 Alison’s most important job was the decision to become a full-time Mother, raising two boys while working part-time as a golf-specific trainer and licensor of the TAG program.
